About Tirzepatide and Semaglutide
Tirzepatide is the active ingredient found in both Mounjaro and Zepbound. While the FDA approved indications for Mounjaro and Zepbound differ – blood sugar control and weight loss, respectively – the active ingredient, Tirzepatide, remains common, and is often used for weight loss! Tirzepatide works by reducing your appetite, accelerating your metabolism, and balancing your blood sugar levels for effective weight loss.
Semaglutide is the active ingredient found in both Ozempic and Wegovy. Just like Tirzepatide above, FDA-approved indications vary from brand to brand despite the same active ingredient: semaglutide, which is often used for weight loss.
Our practice offers both tirzepatide and semaglutide as affordable and accessible options for our patients. We source the active ingredients and personalize each formula, which allows us to deliver quality and reliability.
Semaglutide is a single receptor agonist and tends to be a more cost-effective option:
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist: The medication mimics the GLP-1 hormone naturally released after eating to help your body produce more insulin, reduces glucagon secretion, slows gastric emptying, and reduces appetite through the central nervous system. (1)
Tirzepatide, on the other hand, is a dual receptor agonist – working on two receptors – for a more effective weight loss profile:
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist: The medication mimics the GLP-1 hormone naturally released after eating to help your body produce more insulin, reduces glucagon secretion, slows gastric emptying, and reduces appetite through the central nervous system. (1)
- Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist: further enhances insulin secretion, and enhances the weight loss effect when paired with GLP-1. (2)
This dual action allows tirzepatide to have significantly more benefits than semaglutide, which is only a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Tirzepatide regimens typically result in more substantial weight loss with fewer side effects.
Body Contouring After Weight Loss
After you have reached your goal weight, you may consider undergoing body contouring to address loose skin. Body contouring procedures may allow you to achieve a slimmer, well-defined figure. While improving your BMI is the first step toward living a healthier lifestyle, enhancing your figure with cosmetic surgery can help you reclaim your self-confidence. After you have reached your goal weight, we can discuss the following:
- Tummy tuck: We can sculpt the abdomen by removing excess skin that affects the way your clothing fits. Afterward, you can enjoy a slender, more athletic appearance.
- Liposuction: If you have pockets of excess fat, we can remove them with gentle suction that preserves the surrounding tissue. This treatment requires minimal downtime and can significantly improve your proportions.

Benefits of Our Wellness Program
There are many benefits to undergoing a tirzepatide or semaglutide weight-loss treatment, including:
- Long-lasting Weight Loss: Our wellness program incorporates healthy lifestyle changes, which include eating nutritious meals and exercising regularly for lasting results. Tirzepatide is more effective than other medications, such as semaglutide (3), because tirzepatide is a dual receptor agonist.
- Appetite Regulation: tirzepatide and semaglutide can help increase feelings of satiety, reducing hunger cravings and helping you feel more comfortable with smaller portions.
- Convenient Administration: We can administer the injection during a convenient 15-minute weekly appointment, making the treatment one of the best options for busy patients. We can also teach you how to perform the injections weekly in the comfort of your own home.
- Vitamin Supplementation: In addition to receiving a weekly dose, we complement the program with a wide variety of supplements to ensure well-rounded care. These vitamins include: Vitamin D, B12, green tea extract, fish oil, probiotics, and hair, skin, and nail vitamins.

Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates for our wellness program are individuals who would like to reduce their weight and improve their BMI to lead a healthier lifestyle. All interested candidates must be prepared to consistently make lifestyle changes to support their weight loss during their treatment. Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are most effective when patients eat nutritious meals, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly.
While our wellness program is highly beneficial for most patients, individuals with thyroid cancer or those diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) syndrome are not eligible for our program. Patients with these conditions are recommended to reach out so our team may find a suitable alternative.
Dr. Satey will perform a medical evaluation during your consultation to determine whether or not our Wellness Program is the right fit for you.

Treatment Process
Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are both simple injections that are typically administered beneath the skin on the lower abdomen, thighs, or arms. You can receive the treatment at our office or you can administer it yourself within the comfort of your own home.
Each patient begins the program at the lowest dose of 2.5mg for four weeks (four weekly injections). Doses increase in 2.5mg intervals, with the highest dose being 15mg. Available doses include 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15mg. While most patients lose the majority of their weight on the lower doses, it would take six consecutive months to move from the lowest to the highest (15mg) dose.
Throughout your treatment, you must adopt healthy lifestyle changes such as preparing healthier, more nutritious meals and regularly exercising. Even though you are eating smaller portions, the meals should still be rich in protein and other essential nutrients. Dr. Satey highly recommends a Mediterranean Diet throughout your treatment. It is also crucial that patients stay hydrated while undergoing this treatment. Incorporating these changes into your routine can help make your weight loss treatments more effective. You will have access to help and support during each step of the treatment process, and even be put into a group chat with our experts so that you can access around-the-clock, well-rounded care.
After Your Treatment
Patients often tolerate the procedure without any negative signs or symptoms. A very small subset of patients experience temporary nausea, abdominal discomfort, heartburn, or changes to bowel movements, such as constipation, until their body becomes accustomed to the medication. Constipation often happens due to a lack of water consumption, so make sure you stay on top of it.
Results
Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are gradual weight loss treatments, meaning you can enjoy the results over the course of several months. You will need to commit to making lifestyle changes for the best results–this includes eating nutritious meals, getting adequate sleep, and exercising regularly. As your weight lowers, don’t be fixated on the number on the scale, as muscle is heavier than fat. Patients on our program lose an average of two pounds per week, in addition to eliminating any “food noise,” or intrusive thoughts and cravings for meals.
